So, I've decided to attempt and theme my blogging through music. The idea is, with each post, I'll choose a song I find in some form captures the mood of the day, so, as we go, not only do we build memories but also create a soundtrack to our trip. The hope is later, we can go back and listen to some of the music and be reminded of where we were on the trip, what amazing sights we were seeing, the incredible people were meeting, the unquantifiable things we were learning. That's the idea. I hope it works.
Alright, so for the opening title: Let the Journey Begin by Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. (and now my blog title seems of so creative). I think the suggestion the song gives matches our own intentions at the moment:
If you only do one thing this year, take this advice
Pack your bags and son and keep running
As it doesn't happen twice
With bags packed and passports in hand we're ready to be off. After getting up extremely early - or for some of us having never even gone to bed to begin with - we migrated from the MIT campus to go chill in Logan Airport for several hours before our flight. Right now, sitting in the airport, it's really starting to sink in that we're going. It seems to incredible to be reality. Abu Dhabi. We're off to Abu Dhabi. It's still crazy to think that almost exactly a year ago we were still in high school, getting college decisions and trying to figure out where our lives would lead. I, for one, can honestly say I would never have imagined it would lead me to the United Arab Emirates. This whole first year at MIT has been a whirlwind ride, and I'm sure this trip will be no exception. All that's left to do is hold on tight.
There's something special about the changing of season,
The bull rushes shake and the wind doth call
It's calling your name
Let the journey begin
