After having my 118 mL bottle of contact solution taken out at security (because they have decreased the limit to 100 from 200 since the last time I travelled), I successfully made it through security, yet again, this time waiting for our plane to Abu Dhabi. We flew into Heathrow and spent the night at a hotel nearby. Not being able to go into London made some people sad, but I'd say the full size bed and nice european showers (that have the removeable shower head that you can hold in your hand) were just about as exciting.
So far, though we have not reached our final destination, I still feel like I'm on vacation because:
1. I didn't make my bed this morning, and last night the sheets smelled very clean.
2. I'm in the same clothes as yesterday, and I haven't worn my contacts yet.
3. I already have foreign money.
4. There's more than one person with a british accent.
In fact, Ruaridh was having quite a good time making fun of us (for the few hours that he can), though I think the embarrasment of being stuck with 25 stereotypical american tourists (we'd like to think we're not, but...), in his (almost) hometown no less, and being the only one made to go through special security (haha) makes us even.
We're heading out now on our flight, so the next time I (we) write, we'll be another 4 hours ahead of the states, and hopefully I'll have more vacation highlights (more exciting as well...)
